On April 10, Representatives Jim McGovern (D-MA) and Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) introduced H. Res. 302, which calls for common sense reforms that will keep us all safer and put us on the path toward global nuclear disarmament. The resolution advocates for our entire Back from the Brink policy agenda!
Specifically, H. Res. 302 calls on the federal government to embrace the goals and provisions of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, and to:
-Renounce the option of using nuclear weapons first
-End the sole authority of any president to launch a nuclear attack
-Take nuclear weapons off of hair-trigger alert
-Cancel the plan to replace the nuclear arsenal of the U.S. with modernized, enhanced weapons, and
-Actively pursue a verifiable agreement among nuclear-armed states to mutually eliminate their arsenals

Over 200 organizations have endorsed this campaign, and 26 municipalities (including Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.) have passed resolutions in support of our policy goals.
