Thank you to all who participated in Back from the Brink’s Open House last week. It was a great turn out and a truly engaging conversation — and our deepest gratitude to Zia Mian for offering his views and perspectives.
Here’s a link to our Open House Resources that includes many ways to get involved with Back from the Brink.
As you heard or may have read, the Biden Administration is moving in the exact wrong direction — proposing a huge increase in Pentagon spending and planning to keep in place the policy that reserves the option of the United States using nuclear weapons first. Not exactly the signal we want to send to the world at the very moment a nuclear-armed autocrat is menacing the world with his nuclear weapons.
We have work to do — here are many ways you can get involved and make a difference:

SIGN UP TO LEAD OR JOIN A BftB HUB
Our campaign is all about local, community-based organizing and in the months ahead we hope to greatly expand our network of hubs. Fill out this form to indicate that you’d like to join or lead a hub in your community or region. We will let you know whether a hub already exists and put you in touch with those folks or discuss with you options for forming one.
WRITE A LETTER TO THE EDITOR
The public is paying attention. Many more folks are genuinely concerned about nuclear weapons and the possibility of a catastrophic nuclear war. Meanwhile we know the Biden Administration is getting ready to release its “Nuclear Posture Review” which will double down on the idea that nuclear weapons have value and make us safe. Please consider submitting a letter to the editor or op-ed piece to your local newspaper to make the case that nuclear weapons don’t make us safe, they only increase the risk of a nuclear catastrophe and that the Biden Administration is taking us in the wrong direction. This war should be a wake-up call for humanity before it’s too late. Please feel free to use these tips and talking points for your own letter — and make it personal to you and your community. If you’d like help with writing or submitting your piece don’t hesitate to contact us.
ATTEND OUR NEXT LOCAL ORGANIZING MEETUP ON APRIL 19
These monthly “working” meetings allow BftB activists and supporters to come together, share ideas, offer input to the campaign and learn about the coalition’s primary organizing projects. Please register here. We’ll send all registrants an agenda and meeting reminder in advance of the meeting.
