Thank you for your interest in formally starting or joining a Back from the Brink hub! Our hub model is our national, distributed network of grassroots organizers throughout the United States who are working together to rid the world of nuclear weapons and secure a set of common sense U.S. nuclear weapons policies that will make the world safer, healthier, and more just.
Our power comes from activists coming together locally to demand changes from our elected officials – and our hub model is an integral piece of our strategy.
What Is a Hub? Who Can Lead or Join One?
A BftB hub is any group of three or more people -- or two or more existing local organizations -- within a community or region who come together to engage in activities and advocacy within their communities in support of the Back From the Brink’s five point policy platform and the abolition of nuclear weapons. Hubs are listed on the BftB website as points of contact in their communities. Hubs will receive support, training, and guidance from BftB’s national team.
Some activities that Back from the Brink hubs may organize include:
Passing resolutions with all five BftB policy points in their local governments
Gathering BftB endorsements from elected officials and other organizations
Meeting with elected officials and members of Congress about the campaign
Hosting and supporting local events or actions Educating and engaging local media and influencers
