Now more than ever, we need to change our nuclear weapons policies. In January 2026, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists set the Doomsday Clock to 85 seconds to midnight – the closest it’s ever been. But instead of moving towards disarmament, the U.S. and other nuclear nations are building new, enhanced nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, climate change is heightening global tensions and increasing the likelihood of armed conflicts escalating to nuclear war.

Back from the Brink envisions a future where our world is free of nuclear weapons. We’re a grassroots coalition working toward this vision by growing a powerful nuclear disarmament constituency in the United States that’s mobilized by community-based organizing and advocacy to shift how the public views nuclear weapons and apply political pressure on decision makers to force fundamental changes in U.S. nuclear policy.

And we know — the topic of nuclear weapons can feel heavy, but our campaign is about empowering everyday Americans to speak up on this issue, together.
